This wagon has been in constant commission at ÖBB (Austria) for 4 years.
It was primarily used to transport coal from Poland to Austria (and occasionally gravel,
chalk, and sand). Despite the extreme stresses placed on it (broken-up coal – sharp edges)
and the aggressive media involved (sulfur, phosphorus), there were no significant signs of
wear after these 4 years. As ROBALON is so light (0.93 g/cm3), it enables a saving of
around 1 metric tonne per wagon.
