Tips on transmitting CAD data

Please use our "Inquiry for technical team" form to send us your drawings or
alternately you can also send them via e-mail.

 

Drawings

Drawings should ideally be in one of the following formats: 

AutoCAD drawings (*.dwg) or DXF files (*.dxf)
Please also send as a PDF file (*.pdf) for checking purposes and for use during production.

 

If you work with Autodesk Inventor, you can of course send us Autodesk Inventor drawings (*.idw; *.dwg). We work with both Autodesk Inventor 2011 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2011. 
 

 

3D components and assemblies

Where complex components are involved, it is often helpful to send the 3D data in one the following file formats as well. 
The data can then be directly imported into our CAD / CAM systems to generate production programs.

 

  • Autodesk Inventor assemblies (*.iam)
  • Autodesk Inventor components (*.ipt)

 

  • STEP files (*.stp; *.ste; *.step)         Application protocol 214 – automotive design
  • IGES files (*.igs; *.ige; *.iges)          Volume body with surface type: 143 limited; area type: analytical
  • SAT files (*.sat) up to version 7

 

  • Parasolid binary files (*x_b)               up to version 20
  • Parasolid text files (*x_t)                up to version 20

 

  • Pro/Engineer Granite files (*.g)         up to version 5
  • Pro/Engineer Neutral files (*.neu)      up to version 5
  • Pro/Engineer files (*.prt*; *.asm*)

 

  • Solid Works files (*.prt; *.sldprt; *.asm; *.sldasm)

 

  • CATIA V5 component data (*.CATPart; *.CATProduct)

 

  • UGS NX files (*.prt)

 

  • JT files (*.jt)
  • STL files (*.stl)
  • XGl files (*.xgl)
  • ZGL files (*.zgl)

Tips on creating a PDF drawing

Create drawings solely in black and white where possible.
Bright colors are often difficult to read on white paper and the information may also be lost in copying.

 

Please employ different line thicknesses. Ideally you should follow DIN ISO 128-24; this makes it easier to gain a quick overview of large drawings.

It is also not possible to remeasure any missing dimensions directly in PDF format. We require *.dwg or *.dxf. files for this format.

 

We recommend using one of the following PDF printer drivers to generate PDF files
